Who are we?
We consider ourselves everyday people with everyday challenges trying to accomplish similar goals….get healthier and get fitter. Many of our members have been doing CrossFit for less than a year and have great potential to be competitive if they choose to do so.
When you walk in the door, you will be greeted by coaches and members. We try to create a welcoming and friendly environment. We also like to have fun. It’s not uncommon for a coach to break out in dance at any given time…especially if the wobble or Michael Jackson comes on the stereo. We try to coordinate social events at least once a month, and we participate in various events throughout the year. Massage Therapy is offered in-house by Susan Stockinger and Chiropractic Therapy by Vicki Souder.
Each class is structured so that the athletes will warm up, stretch, and workout together. The warm up usually consists of a short run, row, or jump rope. We incorporate mobility into the stretch portion of the class based on the lifts we will be doing that day. Each class is instructed by a Coach who has at least a CrossFit Level 1 Coaching Certificate. Members are encouraged to submit workouts they would like to add to the programming, including their birthday workout.
If you are new to CrossFit, you will need to complete the 4 introductory workouts before attending regularly scheduled classes. The 4 intro classes consists of one-on-one time with a coach going over the technique of the movements you will need to know for the workouts. We tend to focus a lot on technique and body mechanics to mitigate the risk of injury, to help the athlete be efficient in the movement, and to facilitate faster strength building.
Why we do what we do…
We chose to go into this line of work, because we love CrossFit. We know CrossFit produces results and how it builds a close community that suffers and celebrates together. Above all, we enjoy learning from our clients. We learn something new from each individual. We learn how to be a better teacher, a better coach, a better person. We learn what people value in their lives, and, as coaches, we receive a great intrinsic reward in watching people achieve things they never thought possible. It is our passion, and we are blessed to be able to do this day in and day out.
